  • Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
  • Property: includes real and personal property. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Whenever any seat of justice shall be removed, the county commission shall appoint a commissioner thereof, who, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall take an oath that he will faithfully demean himself in the office of commissioner, and render a true and just account of his proceedings, according to law, and he shall enter into bond to the state of Missouri, for the use of such county, in such sum and with such sureties as such tribunal shall approve, conditioned that he will faithfully demean himself in office, account for and pay over and deliver all moneys, bonds, notes, security or property that may come to his hands, possession or power, in virtue of his office, and will perform all the duties which may be enjoined on him by law as such commissioner.
