  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

The head of a private mental health facility may, and the head of a public mental health facility shall, except in the case of medical emergency and subject to the availability of suitable programs and accommodations, admit any minor who has symptoms of mental disorder other than an intellectual disability or developmental disability, who is under the jurisdiction of a juvenile court and who is committed to a facility not operated by the state of Missouri under section 211.181 or to the custody of the director pursuant to sections 211.201 to 211.207 for assignment by the director to an appropriate facility.
