A credit union may purchase and maintain insurance on behalf of any person who is or was an official, employee, or agent of the credit union or who is or was serving at the request of the credit union as an official, employee, or agent of another corporation, partnership, joint venture, trust, or other enterprise against any liability asserted against such person and incurred by such person in any such capacity or arising out of such person’s status as such, whether or not the credit union would have the power to indemnify such person against such liability.

Terms Used In Nebraska Statutes 21-1797

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Credit union: shall mean a cooperative, nonprofit corporation organized under the Credit Union Act for purposes of educating and encouraging its members in the concept of thrift, creating a source of credit for provident and productive purposes, and carrying on such collateral activities as are set forth in the act.   • Employee: shall mean a person who works full-time or part-time for and is compensated by a credit union. See Nebraska Statutes 21-1708
  • Official: shall mean a member of the board of directors of a credit union, an officer of a credit union, a member of the credit committee of a credit union, if any, or a member of the supervisory committee of a credit union. See Nebraska Statutes 21-1717
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Person: shall mean an individual, partnership, limited liability company, corporation, association, cooperative organization, or any other legal entity treated as a person under the laws of this state. See Nebraska Statutes 21-1719
