- Designated trauma centers: means advanced, basic, comprehensive, general, and specialty level trauma centers. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8213
- Designation: means a formal determination by the department that a hospital or health care facility is capable of providing designated trauma care or rehabilitative services as authorized in the Statewide Trauma System Act. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8214
- Trauma: means a single-system or multisystem injury requiring immediate medical or surgical intervention or treatment to prevent death or permanent disability. See Nebraska Statutes 71-8232
