The property of a testator, except as otherwise provided in this title, must be resorted to for the payment of devises in the following order:

- Devise: To gift property by will.
- Testator: A male person who leaves a will at death.
1. The property which is expressly appropriated by the will for the specific devise.
2. Property not disposed of by the will.
3. Property which is devised to a residuary devisee.
