- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
Any payments necessary to discharge any financial obligations imposed upon this state by the compact or by any supplementary agreement entered into hereunder shall be a charge upon the appropriation for the respective state institution.
