The following persons shall report the receipt of any property, wages, income or resources of any kind, or changes of any kind that would affect the amount of assistance under this chapter or N.H. Rev. Stat. Chapter 161 for which a person is eligible, to the commissioner of the department of health and human services in writing within 10 calendar days after receiving such property, wages, income or resources:
I. Any person receiving assistance for the care of any dependent child or children;

  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of these laws, shall mean the section next preceding or following that in which such reference is made, unless some other is expressly designated. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:13
  • month: shall mean a calendar month, and the word "year" a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed; and the word "year" shall be equivalent to the expression "year of our Lord. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:8
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies corporate and politic as well as to individuals. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:9
  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.

II. Any person legally liable for the support of a dependent child or children;
III. Any person who receives assistance pursuant to the provisions of RSA 167;
IV. Any person who is legally liable pursuant to N.H. Rev. Stat. § 167:2 or N.H. Rev. Stat. § 546-A:2 for the support of any person who receives assistance pursuant to the provisions of RSA 167.
V. Any person receiving medical assistance who receives a settlement or an award from a liable third person or party against whom the recipient has a legally cognizable claim for expenses or support.
No person who is required to report the receipt of property, wages, income or resources by this section shall within any one month sell, assign, transfer, encumber or otherwise dispose of any property with a total value of $30 or more without the consent of the commissioner of the department of health and human services.
