Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 167:33

  • Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
  • petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
  • state: when applied to different parts of the United States, may extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories, so called; and the words "United States" shall include said district and territories. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:4
Any suit, action, petition, or other legal proceeding to enforce a lien recovering any money or property from any recipient of old age assistance or aid to the permanently and totally disabled, under this chapter or RSA 161, or his estate shall be instituted and prosecuted in the name of the state of New Hampshire, and any recovery shall be for the benefit of and, after any necessary reimbursement of the federal government, be allocated and paid to the state and the county in proportion to the assistance paid.
