  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • petition: when used in connection with the equity jurisdiction of the superior court, and referring to a document filed with the court, shall mean complaint, and "petitioner" shall mean plaintiff. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:51
A common carrier by rail for any corporate purpose approved by the department, upon petition of the corporation, may, from time to time, with the authority of the department as provided in N.H. Rev. Stat. § 228:76-92, increase its capital stock or bonds beyond the amounts fixed and limited by its articles of association or its charter or by any act of the general court.
