Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 555:1

  • Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
  • Discovery: Lawyers' examination, before trial, of facts and documents in possession of the opponents to help the lawyers prepare for trial.
  • Legatee: A beneficiary of a decedent

Any person suspected of having concealed, embezzled or conveyed away any of the personal estate of a deceased person may, upon complaint of the administrator, an heir, legatee or creditor of the deceased person, be cited to appear before the judge and be examined, under oath, for the discovery of the same.
