  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. a. No person shall install on any motor vehicle a weight or other product used to balance a motor vehicle wheel or tire if the weight or other product contains lead or mercury that was intentionally added during the manufacture of the product.

b. No person shall sell or offer to sell a weight or other product for balancing a motor vehicle wheel or tire if the weight or other product contains lead or mercury that was intentionally added during the manufacture of the product.

c. No person shall sell a new motor vehicle equipped with a weight or other product used to balance a motor vehicle wheel or tire if the weight or other product contains lead or mercury that was intentionally added during the manufacture of the product.

d. As used in this act:

“Motor vehicle” means the same as that term is defined in R.S.39:1-1.

“New motor vehicle” means a motor vehicle that has not been previously sold to a person other than a distributor, wholesaler, or dealer of motor vehicles for resale.
