Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:13-5

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 5. Where the commissioner has reasonable grounds to believe a public health emergency exists, the commissioner shall: ascertain the existence of cases of an illness or health condition that may be potential causes of a public health emergency; investigate all such cases for sources of infection and ensure that they are subject to proper control measures; and define the distribution of the illness or health condition. To fulfill these duties, the commissioner shall identify exposed individuals as follows:

a. The commissioner shall identify individuals thought to have been exposed to an illness or health condition that may be a potential cause of a public health emergency.

b. The commissioner shall counsel and interview such individuals where needed to assist in the positive identification of exposed individuals and develop information relating to the source and spread of the illness or health condition. The information shall include the name and address, including city and county, of any person from whom the illness or health condition may have been contracted and to whom the illness or health condition may have spread.
