Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:2-131
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 2. As used in this act:
“Child” means a person one through five years of age.
“Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Health.
“Department” means the Department of Health.
“Lead poisoning” means the poisoning of the bloodstream that results from prolonged exposure to lead or lead-based substances in water, paint, building materials, or the environment, and which causes uncorrectable developmental delay and decreased mental functioning capacity in children, and in severe cases, can lead to a child’s premature death.
