Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:2K-47.1

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. As used in this act:

“Commissioner” means the Commissioner of Health;

“Emergency medical service” means a program in a hospital staffed 24 hours-a-day by a licensed physician trained in emergency medicine;

“Emergency medical technician” means a person trained in basic life support services as defined in section 1 of P.L.1985, c.351 (C. 26:2K-21) and who is certified by the Department of Health to provide that level of care.
