Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:4-35

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 26:4-35. If a person in the infectious stage of a sexually transmitted infection shall fail to report as directed to the physician in attendance for treatment, the physician shall report such failure to the local board, or to the Department of Health, which shall forward the information to the local board.

The local board may require such person to be examined as provided in sections 26:4-30 and 26:4-31 of this title. If upon examination the person is found to have a sexually transmitted infection in its infectious stage and does not present evidence to show that the person is being regularly treated by a licensed physician for the disease, the person shall be quarantined as described in sections 26:4-36 and 26:4-37 of this title.
