Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:4-49.7

  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 1. When it appears to the Superior Court or to any municipal court, from the evidence or otherwise, that any person coming before such court on any charge, may have a venereal disease in an infectious stage, it shall be the duty of such court to order the person to submit to a medical examination for venereal diseases, in a jail or at a hospital or clinic or by such physician as may be selected or appointed for the purpose, and if found to have a venereal disease in an infectious stage to submit to treatment in such jail, hospital or clinic or by such officer or to other treatment permitted under the medical practice act.
