Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:9-5

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
A request for such survey may be made by the local board, or the county commission, upon its own motion, and must be made upon the petition, in writing, of ten or more freeholders residing within the jurisdiction of such board or commission.
