  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
70. a. The Emerge Program is hereby established as a program under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. The authority shall administer the program to encourage economic development, job creation, and the retention of significant numbers of jobs in imminent danger of leaving the State. The board may approve the award of tax credits to an eligible business upon application of the chief executive officer of the eligible business and following the execution of a letter of intent and the payment of fees, subject to the limitations set forth in subsection b. of this section:

b. value of all tax credits approved by the authority for businesses eligible pursuant to section 71 of P.L.2020, c.156 (C. 34:1B-339) shall be subject to the limitations set forth in section 98 of P.L.2020, c.156 (C. 34:1B-362).
