- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Each license shall state the maximum number of persons who may be employed in the dwelling, tenement, room, or building. The number shall be determined by the number of cubic feet of air space contained in each room mentioned in the license, allowing not less than two hundred and fifty cubic feet for each person employed between the hours of six o’clock in the morning and six o’clock in the evening, unless by special written permit of the commissioner and not less than four hundred cubic feet for each person employed therein between the hours of six in the evening and six in the morning, but no permit shall be issued unless the dwelling, tenement, room, or building has suitable light at all times during work hours.
