Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 34:8-57
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. - Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
If a person fails or refuses to file any statement or report requested by the director, or obey any subpoena issued by the director, the director may seek and obtain an order from the Superior Court:
a. Adjudging the person in contempt of court;
b. Granting injunctive relief, without notice, restraining any and all acts and practices for which a license is required in the provisions of this act;
c. Directing the payment of reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs of the investigation and suit; and
d. Granting any other relief as may be required, until the person files the statement or report, or obeys the subpoena.
