Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 48:10-4

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The board shall have general supervision and regulation of, and jurisdiction and control over natural gas pipeline utilities as herein defined and their property, equipment, and facilities so far as may be necessary for the protection of life, health, and property of the citizens of this State.
