Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 4:12-19

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. A person who shall conduct the business of buying milk or cream for the purposes set forth in section 4:12-2 of this Title, without being licensed so to do, shall be liable to a penalty of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the first offense and fifty dollars ($50.00) for the second and each subsequent offense, each day’s receipts of milk to constitute a separate violation, to be sued for and recovered in a civil action by and in the name of the department.
