- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Whenever any person holding public office, position or employment, whose compensation is paid by this State or any county, municipality, school district or other political subdivision of this State, or by any board, body, agency or commission thereof, shall indicate in writing to the proper disbursing officer his desire to have any deduction made from his compensation for the payment of insurance premiums written on the group plan of accident and sickness insurance, or property or liability insurance, or for any hospital service plan and medical-surgical plan, such disbursing officer shall, except in counties of the first class, make such deduction from the compensation of such person, and such disbursing officer shall transmit the sum so deducted to the company carrying such insurance. In counties of the first class, such disbursing officer shall make such deduction from the compensation of such person and shall transmit the sum so deducted to the company carrying such insurance only when directed so to do by the board of chosen freeholders.
Any such written authorization may be withdrawn by such person holding public office, position or employment at any time upon filing notice of such withdrawal with the above mentioned disbursing officer.
