Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 9:6-8.27

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Parent: as used in this chapter , shall include the stepfather and stepmother and the adoptive or resource family parent. See New Jersey Statutes 9:6-2
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 7. a. A police officer or an agency or institution or individual may temporarily remove a child from the place where he is residing with the consent of his parent or other person legally responsible for his care, if, there is reasonable cause to suspect that the child’s life or health is in imminent danger. If the child is not returned within 3 working days from the date of removal, the procedure required pursuant to this act shall be applied immediately.
