The North Carolina Museum of Art is an agency of the State of North Carolina within the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The functions of the North Carolina Museum of Art shall be to acquire, preserve, and exhibit works of art for the education and enjoyment of the people of the State, and to conduct programs of education, research, and publication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art on the part of the people of the State. ?(1961, c. 731; 1979, 2nd Sess., c. 1306, s. 1; 2015-241, s. 14.30(s).)
