The following definitions shall apply in this Article:

(1) Board. – The North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

  • following: when used by way of reference to any section of a statute, shall be construed to mean the section next preceding or next following that in which such reference is made; unless when some other section is expressly designated in such reference. See North Carolina General Statutes 12-3

(2) Pharmacy quality assurance program. – A program pertaining to one of the following:

a. A pharmacy association created under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 90-85.4 or incorporated under Chapter 55A of the N.C. Gen. Stat. that evaluates the quality of pharmacy services and alleged medication errors and incidents and makes recommendations to improve the quality of pharmacy services.

b. A program established by a person or entity holding a valid pharmacy permit pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 90-85.21 or N.C. Gen. Stat. § 90-85.21A to evaluate the quality of pharmacy services and alleged medication errors and incidents and make recommendations to improve the quality of pharmacy services.

c. A quality assurance committee or medical or peer review committee established by a health care provider licensed under this Chapter or a health care facility licensed under Chapter 122C, 131D, or 131E of the General Statutes that includes evaluation of the quality of pharmacy services and alleged medication errors and incidents and makes recommendations to improve the quality of pharmacy services.
