(A) Service of legal process upon any partnership that has not filed a statement of partnership authority in this state and that is formed under the laws of this state or doing business in this state may be made by delivering a copy personally to any partner doing business in this state or by leaving it at a partner’s dwelling house or usual place of abode in this state or at a place of business of the partnership in this state.

Terms Used In Ohio Code 1776.08

  • Business: includes every trade, occupation, and profession. See Ohio Code 1776.01
  • Partner: means a person admitted to a partnership as a partner. See Ohio Code 1776.01
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Partnership: means an association of two or more persons to carry on as co-owners a business for-profit formed under section 1776. See Ohio Code 1776.01
  • State: means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or any territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, except that as used in sections 1776. See Ohio Code 1776.01
  • Statement: means a statement of correction or corrected statement under section 1776. See Ohio Code 1776.01

(B) Nothing in this section limits or affects the right to serve process in any other manner now or hereafter provided by law. This section is an extension of, and not a limitation upon, the right otherwise existing of service of legal process.
