Ohio Code 2151.272 – Release or transfer of records for child who is alleged or adjudicated an abused, neglected, or dependent child
(A) As used in this section:
Terms Used In Ohio Code 2151.272
- Child: means a person who is under eighteen years of age, except that the juvenile court has jurisdiction over any person who is adjudicated an unruly child prior to attaining eighteen years of age until the person attains twenty-one years of age, and, for purposes of that jurisdiction related to that adjudication, a person who is so adjudicated an unruly child shall be deemed a "child" until the person attains twenty-one years of age. - Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
(1) “IEP” has the same meaning as in section 3323.01 of the Revised Code.
(2) “504 plan” means a plan based on an evaluation conducted in accordance with section 504 of the “Rehabilitation Act of 1973,” 29 U.S.C. § 794, as amended.
(B) Upon the filing of a complaint, under section 2151.27 of the Revised Code, alleging that a child is an abused, neglected, or dependent child, the judge of the court in which the complaint is filed may order the board of education of the school district in which the child was enrolled immediately prior to the filing of the complaint to release the child’s grades, credits, official transcripts, IEPs, and 504 plans to any district or school in which the child enrolls after the complaint is filed.
