Nothing contained in ORS § 133.743 to 133.857 shall be deemed to constitute a waiver by this state of its right, power or privilege to try a person demanded under ORS § 133.843 for any crime committed within this state, or of its right, power or privilege to regain custody of such person by extradition proceedings or otherwise for the purpose of trial, sentence or punishment for any crime committed within this state, nor shall any proceedings under ORS § 133.743 to 133.857 that result in, or fail to result in, extradition be deemed a waiver by this state of any of its rights, privileges or jurisdiction in any way whatsoever. Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 133.845
- Extradition: The formal process of delivering an accused or convicted person from authorities in one state to authorities in another state.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
