(1) The Oregon Youth Authority may place a youth who has been placed in its legal custody pursuant to ORS § 419C.478 or 419C.481 in a youth care center if the center complies with the provisions of ORS § 420.855 to 420.885 and has been approved by the youth authority.

(2) Placement of a youth by the youth authority in a youth care center does not terminate the juvenile court’s wardship over the youth or the custody of the youth authority. The center may retain such youths in full- or part-time residential care or, with the consent of the youth authority, may place them on a full- or part-time basis in foster homes.
