A person 12 to 15 years of age who has obtained a boating safety education card may operate a motorboat with an engine of 10 horsepower or less. In addition, a person 12 to 15 years of age who has obtained a boating safety education card may operate a motorboat with an engine greater than 10 horsepower if accompanied by and under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian or responsible person 16 years of age or older who has obtained a boating safety education card. Terms Used In Oregon Statutes 830.088
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- Motorboat: means any boat propelled in whole or in part by machinery, including boats temporarily equipped with detachable motors. See Oregon Statutes 830.005
- Operate: means to navigate or otherwise use a boat. See Oregon Statutes 830.005
- Person: includes individuals, corporations, associations, firms, partnerships, limited liability companies and joint stock companies. See Oregon Statutes 174.100
