  • bank: as used in this title must be construed to include all institutions doing any kind of banking business whose deposits are eligible for insurance by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, excluding a savings bank, and "building and loan association" as used in this title must be construed to include a mutual or stock savings association, savings and loan association, or savings bank and all other institutions doing any kind of building and loan business whose deposits are eligible for insurance by the Federal Savings and Loan Insurance Corporation.   • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
Whenever an officer of any bank engaged in business in this State shall be called upon by the Comptroller General or any of his clerks or agents for a certificate of the amount of cash on deposit to the credit of any public officer for use in settlements with such public officer and shall wilfully and knowingly give a false certificate or statement he shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than six months nor less than three months, in the discretion of the court.
