Terms Used In South Carolina Code 34-5-30

  • bank: includes building and loan associations. See South Carolina Code 34-5-10
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation: A government corporation that insures the deposits of all national and state banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System. Source: OCC

Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed to prevent the Board from appointing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation conservator or receiver of any closed bank and the Board may in its discretion so appoint the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as conservator or receiver of any closed bank as provided for under the terms of Section 264, Title 12, United States Code Annotated (49 Statute 684) and the provisions of § 34-3-630.
