Terms Used In South Carolina Code 35-5-30

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • National Bank: A bank that is subject to the supervision of the Comptroller of the Currency. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is a bureau of the U.S. Treasury Department. No domestic or foreign corporation or the registrar or transfer agent of any corporation shall be liable for registering or causing to be registered on the books of such corporation any stock or stocks, bond or bonds or other securities in the name of any nominee of such bank, trust company or national bank or for transferring or causing to be transferred on the books of any such corporation any stock or stocks, bond or bonds or other securities theretofore registered by such corporation in the name of any nominee or nominees of such bank, trust company or national bank as provided in this chapter when the transfer is made upon the authorization of such nominee.
