Terms Used In South Carolina Code 56-21-40

  • Bail: Security given for the release of a criminal defendant or witness from legal custody (usually in the form of money) to secure his/her appearance on the day and time appointed.
All fines and bail forfeitures collected under the provisions of §§ 56-21-10 to 56-21-60 shall be deposited in the general fund of the particular State institution wherein the violation occurred.
