(a) Officers and employees of the department designated by the commissioner are, for the purpose of administering the motor vehicle laws, authorized to administer oaths and acknowledge signatures, and shall do so without fee.

  • Department: means the department of revenue. See Tennessee Code 55-1-111
  • Record: means information that is inscribed on a tangible medium or that is stored in an electronic or other medium and is retrievable in a perceivable form. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105
  • Vehicle: means every device in, upon or by which any person or property is or may be transported or drawn upon a highway, excepting devices used exclusively upon stationary rails or tracks. See Tennessee Code 55-8-101
(b) The commissioner and officers of the department the commissioner may designate are authorized to prepare, and deliver, upon request, a certified copy of any record of the department required to be kept by chapters 1-6 of this title and authorized to be released by chapter 25 of this title, charging a fee of fifty cents (50¢) for each document authenticated.
