Terms Used In Tennessee Code 68-122-107

  • Boiler: means and includes a closed vessel or vessels intended for use in heating water or other liquids or for generating steam or other vapors under pressure or vacuum by the direct application of heat from combustible fuels, electricity, or nuclear energy, and also includes an unfired pressure vessel, meaning a vessel in which pressure is obtained from an external source or from an indirect application of heat. The chief inspector shall employ deputy inspectors, who shall be responsible to the chief inspector and who shall have had at time of appointment not less than five (5) years’ practical experience in the construction, maintenance, repair or operation of high pressure boilers and unfired pressure vessels as a mechanical engineer, steam engineer, boilermaker or boiler inspector, and who has passed the examination provided for in § 68-122-109.
