Terms Used In Texas Transportation Code 1001.003

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The department is composed of an executive director appointed by the board and other employees required to efficiently implement:
(1) this subtitle;
(2) other applicable vehicle laws of this state; and
(3) other laws that grant jurisdiction to or are applicable to the department.
