Terms Used In Utah Code 20A-7-511- County legislative body: means :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Election: means a regular general election, a municipal general election, a statewide special election, a local special election, a regular primary election, a municipal primary election, and a special district election. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
- Initiative: means a new law proposed for adoption by the public as provided in this chapter. See Utah Code 20A-7-101
- Local legislative body: means the legislative body of a county, city, town, or metro township. See Utah Code 20A-7-101
(a) |
Any proposed law submitted to the people by initiative petition that is approved by the voters at any election takes effect on the date specified in the initiative petition. |
(b) |
If the initiative petition does not specify an effective date, a law approved by the voters at any election takes effect five days after the date of the official proclamation of the vote by the county legislative body. |

(2) |
The local legislative body may amend any laws approved by the people at any meeting after the law has taken effect. |
