53-6-104. Appointment of director of division — Qualifications — Appointment of employees — Term of office — Compensation.

The commissioner, upon recommendation of the council and with the approval of the governor, shall appoint a director of the division. |
Terms Used In Utah Code 53-6-104
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of public safety appointed under Section 53-1-107. See Utah Code 53-1-102
- Council: means the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council created in Section 53-6-106. See Utah Code 53-6-102
- Director: means the director of the Peace Officer Standards and Training Division appointed under Section 53-6-104. See Utah Code 53-6-102
- Division: means the Peace Officer Standards and Training Division created in Section 53-6-103. See Utah Code 53-6-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5

The director is the executive and administrative head of the division and shall be experienced in administration and possess additional qualifications as determined by the commissioner and as provided by law. |

The director shall be a full-time officer of the state. |

The director may appoint deputies, consultants, clerks, and other employees from eligibility lists authorized by the Division of Human Resource Management. |

The director may be removed from his position at the will of the commissioner. |
