- Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
- Authority: means the Youth Parole Authority created in Section 80-5-701. See Utah Code 80-5-102
- Board: means the Board of Juvenile Court Judges. See Utah Code 80-1-102
- Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services created in Section 26B-1-201. See Utah Code 80-1-102
- Director: means the director of the Division of Juvenile Justice Services. See Utah Code 80-5-102
- Division: means the Division of Juvenile Justice Services created in Section 80-5-103. See Utah Code 80-5-102
- Juvenile offender: means :
(a) a serious youth offender; or (b) a youth offender. See Utah Code 80-1-102 - Parole: means a conditional release of a juvenile offender from residency in secure care to live outside of secure care under the supervision of the Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services, or another person designated by the Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services. See Utah Code 80-1-102
- Person: means :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Property: includes both real and personal property. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Revocation: means the same as that term is defined in Section 80-6-102. See Utah Code 80-5-102
- Secure care: means placement of a minor, who is committed to the Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services for rehabilitation, in a facility operated by, or under contract with, the Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services, that provides 24-hour supervision and confinement of the minor. See Utah Code 80-1-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- Termination: means the same as that term is defined in Section 80-6-102. See Utah Code 80-5-102
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
