Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 23 Sec. 3213

  • Commissioner: means Commissioner of Motor Vehicles unless otherwise stated. See
  • Nonresident: shall include any person who does not come under the definition of a resident. See
  • Operate: includes an attempt to operate and shall be construed to cover all matters and things connected with the presence and use of snowmobiles whether they be at motion or rest. See
  • Snowmobile: means a self-propelled vehicle intended for off-road travel primarily on snow, having a curb weight of not more than 793. See
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States may apply to the District of Columbia and any territory and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See

§ 3213. Proof of payment of tax

(a) No license, permits, registration, or similar authorization to own or operate any snowmobile shall be issued under this subchapter until proof of payment of or exemption from the tax imposed by 32 Vt. Stat. Ann. chapter 233 has been established in the manner prescribed by the Commissioner of Taxes.

(b) A current or expired registration certificate or other acceptable proof from the state or province of residence shall suffice as proof of payment of the tax referred to in subsection (a) of this section for persons applying for nonresident registration in this State.
