The Authority is authorized to apply for, accept and expend gifts, grants or donations from public or private sources to enable it to carry out its objectives. Authority funds assigned to the Authority are approved for use as matching funds to the funds appropriated pursuant to the Cooperative Tourism Advertising Fund as administered by the Virginia Tourism Corporation and such other tourism grants and programs as may be created to assist communities and regional authorities.

  • Authority: means any political subdivision, a body politic and corporate, created, organized and operated pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, or if such Authority is abolished, the board, body, commission, department or officer succeeding to the principal functions thereof or to whom the powers given by this chapter are given by law.   • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
