Individuals residing in community-based care settings, such as adult family homes, assisted living facilities, and residential care settings for individuals with developmental disabilities, including an individual’s home, may receive medication assistance. Nothing in this chapter affects the right of an individual to refuse medication or requirements relating to informed consent.

  • Community-based care settings: include : Community residential programs for persons with developmental disabilities, certified by the department of social and health services under chapter 71A. See Washington Code 69.41.010
  • Medication assistance: means assistance rendered by a nonpractitioner to an individual residing in a community-based care setting or in-home care setting to facilitate the individual's self-administration of a legend drug or controlled substance. See Washington Code 69.41.010
