The secretary is authorized to enter into cooperative agreements with other governments or government entities for the purpose of regulating carbon dioxide sequestration projects that extend beyond state regulatory authority under this article.

Terms Used In West Virginia Code 22-11B-10

  • Carbon dioxide: means carbon dioxide produced by anthropogenic sources which is of such purity and quality that it will not compromise the safety of geologic storage and will not compromise those properties of a storage reservoir which allow the reservoir to effectively enclose and contain a stored gas.   • Secretary: means the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection. See West Virginia Code 22-11B-2
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States and not restricted by the context, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" also include the said district and territories. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
