Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 201.13

  • Commission: means the office of the commissioner of railroads in the case of water carriers and the public service commission in the case of other public service corporations. See Wisconsin Statutes 201.01
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Subject to the regulatory jurisdiction of the commission under this chapter and to all other applicable provisions of law relating to water carrier or other special types of corporations, all classes and series of stock of a public service corporation shall be governed by the provisions of ch. 180.
