Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 26:4-135

  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. 5. Notwithstanding any other provision of this act to the contrary, a person or entity, who is authorized by the commissioner to report, receive or disclose information relating to the registry pursuant to this act, shall be immune from liability for:

a. reporting information to, receiving information from, or disclosing information received from, the registry in accordance with the provisions of this act or any regulation adopted pursuant thereto; and

b. any error or inaccuracy in the information that is reported to, received from, or disclosed after receipt from, the registry in accordance with the provisions of this act or any regulation adopted pursuant thereto, and any consequence of that error or inaccuracy.
