Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 27:7-19

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State.   • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The commissioner may enter into written agreement with any board of chosen freeholders or other public body, or with any person for co-operation in any work, and to assume any portion of the cost thereof. Such board or public body may raise its proportionate share of the cost in accordance with the provisions of any law providing for road improvement or maintenance.

Upon approval by the commissioner of the certificate of the inspector and engineer in charge of the work that it has been satisfactorily completed in whole or in part, according to contract, drawings and specifications, the disbursing officer of such board or body shall pay its share of the whole or partial cost to the state treasurer to the credit of the commissioner.
