Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 48:2-34

  • Deposition: An oral statement made before an officer authorized by law to administer oaths. Such statements are often taken to examine potential witnesses, to obtain discovery, or to be used later in trial.
  • State: extends to and includes any State, territory or possession of the United States, the District of Columbia and the Canal Zone. See New Jersey Statutes 1:1-2
The board may, in any investigation or hearing, by its order in writing, cause the deposition of witnesses residing within or without the state to be taken in such manner as it may by rule prescribe.
