- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. Any person who shall knowingly and willfully neglect, fail or omit to do or perform, or who shall knowingly and willfully cause or join or participate with others in causing any public utility company to neglect, fail or omit to do or perform, or who shall advise, solicit or persuade or knowingly and willfully instruct, direct or order any officer, agent or employee of any public utility company to neglect, fail or omit to do any act or thing required to be done by this chapter or by sections 48:3-1 to 48:3-7, 48:3-9, 48:3-10 or 48:12-90 of this title, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
